What is BPD? What are the Signs?

Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a mental illness that causes people to have unstable emotions and relationships. People with BPD may experience intense but short-lived relationships, alternating between idealization and devaluation of others.

People with BPD often exhibit impulsive behavior, such as spending money irresponsibly or driving recklessly. They may also self-harm by cutting themselves or burning their skin with cigarettes–a behavior known as “self-injury.” They may even attempt suicide at times when they feel overwhelmed by their emotions or experiences. The typical signs of borderline personality disorder include:

Borderline personality disorder can be very distressing and overwhelming, but there are treatments available that can help you manage your symptoms and live well.

How Inpatient Trauma Treatment Can Help Heal Your PTSD Symotoms

If you’re wondering what to expect during your first visit, intake process and first session, we’ve got some answers for you.

First of all, it’s important to know that every person is different in terms of how they handle trauma treatment. Some people can attend one session per week while others may need more frequent sessions over a longer period of time. Our therapists will work with each client individually so they can determine the best course of action for them based on their needs and wants.

Second, the length of time it takes for someone who struggles with PTSD or other forms of trauma depends on many factors: their age; gender; ethnicity; cultural background; experiences with mental illness (if any); where they live currently versus where they grew up and/or spent most of their childhood years; etc. Since these factors are unique for every individual who comes through our doors at New Vision Healing Center, we cannot give an exact answer as far as how long treatment will last–but rest assured that we will do everything possible within our power to help guide those who come here towards long-term healing.
