What is PSTD? What are the Signs & Symptoms of Trauma?
PTSD, or post-traumatic stress disorder, is a mental health condition that develops in response to experiencing a traumatic event. A person with PTSD may feel stressed and anxious even when they’re not in danger. They may also have problems remembering important parts of their lives and having trouble sleeping.
PTSD can happen after any kind of trauma–from being involved in a car crash or natural disaster to living through war or other violence. The more severe the trauma was, the more likely it is that someone will develop PTSD symptoms later on. The signs and symptoms of PTSD include:
- Flashbacks to the event that can be triggered by something similar to what happened during the trauma, like loud noises or seeing someone who looks like the person who caused the trauma
- Bad dreams about what happened during the trauma, sometimes feeling like you're still there or being unable to escape it
- Extreme anxiety and/or fear when exposed to reminders of what happened during the trauma
- Feelings of detachment from other people, including those close to you
- Avoidance of things associated with your trauma, such as people or places
If you’re struggling with PTSD, the best thing you can do is seek help from a trauma treatment center in South Florida. A trained professional will be able to provide you with the tools and resources necessary for overcoming your symptoms and getting back on track.

How Inpatient Trauma Treatment Can Help Heal Your PTSD Symotoms
If you’re wondering what to expect during your first visit, intake process and first session, we’ve got some answers for you.
First of all, it’s important to know that every person is different in terms of how they handle trauma treatment. Some people can attend one session per week while others may need more frequent sessions over a longer period of time. Our therapists will work with each client individually so they can determine the best course of action for them based on their needs and wants.
Second, the length of time it takes for someone who struggles with PTSD or other forms of trauma depends on many factors: their age; gender; ethnicity; cultural background; experiences with mental illness (if any); where they live currently versus where they grew up and/or spent most of their childhood years; etc. Since these factors are unique for every individual who comes through our doors at New Vision Healing Center, we cannot give an exact answer as far as how long treatment will last–but rest assured that we will do everything possible within our power to help guide those who come here towards long-term healing.
